The Springfield Youth Performance Group (SYPG), an organization spotlighting
young talent from the Springfield area, will hold dance auditions on Friday, April 28th, 2023, for its upcoming production of the classical ballet, Alice in Wonderland.
Auditions will be held at The Grant Conservatory of Music and Dance, 501 West Elliott Ave, Springfield. Registration will be held from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. with dance auditions from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. There will be a brief parent meeting following the completion of auditions.
Dance auditions are open to children ages 5 to 15 and numerous parts are available for both boys and girls. Children must be enrolled in a dance class at any dance studio to audition. They will be taught choreography at the audition. All participants must arrive by the close of registration and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Girls should have their hair in a bun and wear a black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Boys should wear a white t-shirt, black pants and black ballet or jazz shoes. SYPG will present Alice in Wonderland on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School Auditorium. Rehearsals will be held during a week-long camp from June 5 to 9, 2023 at the Grant Conservatory of Music and Dance Children must be available from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day to attend the camp. Daily
camp attendance is required to participate in the performance. The fee for the camp is $150 for each child. This fee covers all camp activities, rehearsal, performance, and costume fee. Camp payment is due by June 5, 2023.
During the interactive camp, performers will be taught their parts for the show, learn the basics of acting and stage performances, participate in cultural enrichment activities, receive a camp T-shirt, and engage in other fun, child-friendly activities. A costume fitting will be held from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. on May 5, 2023 at Grant Conservatory. Dress rehearsal will be held after camp at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School on June 9, 2023 from 4-8 pm.
